How many litres of water do you consume every day?

The Earth currently hosts 7 billion people (by the way there were 5,400 millions in 1994) and everybody needs water to live, to cook and to clean. Obviously, isn’t it? Do you know that if each inhabitant would consume the same quantity of water that one European does everyday on average, we would need two globes to provide everybody with this basic substance.

Visit Estonia (I. part)

Surrounded by the Baltic Sea, the great Russia, and always looking at Scandinavian countries as a model to imitate, Estonia is a small country with several lovely places to find out and an amazing history to explain to visitors. Justifiably, it was the only country to achieve independence from the Soviet Union in the 1991 by singing. In conclusion, Estonian people have great voices or Russians are almost deft. Jokes aside, this date is commemorated every four years with a worthy and emotive festival called Laulupidu.

Abraham Gutman and Dania Darwish, a Jewish and Arab student at Hunter College in New York City decided to react immediately after the start of Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, on 8 of July. Gutman and Darwish posted a picture on the Internet under a meaningful hashtag #JewsAndArabsRefuseToBeEnemies. The post encouraged hundreds of compatriots around the world to imitate them, flooding the net with lovely pictures and a clear message: two nations can coexist in peace and any attitude must be mocked. This is the last and most popular viral campaign, but it is since couple of years ago that social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube have become a powerful verbal weapon to fight against any kind of violence, dictationship or inequality.

roma genocide

German Federal Archive (source)

During the World Word II the Roma people in Europe suffered persecution and extermination under the Nazi Regime, as West Germany recognized in 1982. Although figures are not concrete because Nazis often did not keep any account of the number of Roma sent to the camps, tortured and killed; estimates of the death toll of Roma in that time range from 220,000 to 1,500,000. This black episode of the history is named the Roma Genocide or Holocaust, although it is known by many other names like Porajmos or Samudaripen (Mass Killing, in English).

It happened just 70 years ago. The Council of Europe and Roma communities around the continent remember the genocide on the 2nd of August in order to spread the awareness about hate cruelty and to avoid any similar case in the present or the future.
